Crime prevention is any initiative or policy which reduces or eliminates victimization or the risk of individual criminal participation. It includes government and community based programs which go beyond law enforcement and criminal justice to tackle the risk factors that cause crime because it is proven to be more cost effective and leads to greater social benefits and safety.

Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community. Mental health is the foundation for individual well-being and the effective functioning of a community.
