Social Capital, Social Entrepreneurs and Safer Communities – Enabling Alberta’s Communities to Work Out Lasting Solutions (2008)
This paper examines recent developments in our understanding of social capital, social capital markets and social enterprises. It then applies these learnings to local community needs and resources and demonstrates ways in which social entrepreneurial strategies result in safer communities. Finally, future actions steps are described and the role of government, the not ‐ for ‐ profit agencies and the private sector is discussed.
