Victim Impact Statements (1997)
A discussion of the use of written or oral submissions from crime victims describing the impact the offence had on their lives. This paper examines the history of Victim Impact Statements in the United States, their introduction into Canadian sentencing hearings, the Alberta experience and the arguments of both opponents and proponents of including Victim Impact Statements in the court process.
